This series of classes will focus on movements that are therapeutic for the neck and shoulder and help to relieve tense upper back, neck and shoulders as well as movements that will improve core strength and lower back flexibility.
TriYoga for Seniors offers an adaptive approach to practicing yoga, thereby allowing bodies with stiffness, soreness or some limitations to participate without feeling excluded during any part of class. Aspects of this class include standing, balancing postures, hip and spinal flexibility and appropriate core strengthening. Breathing and meditation techniques to calm the mind are included in every class as well.
If you are reading this then you know who you are - a “Sassy Senior,” - strong, ageless, empowered by her wisdom and conscious of her healthy choices. Sassy Seniors will continue to focus on maintaining exceptional health over 50 with exercises specific to building bone density and postural awareness (without taking ourselves too seriously).
This class will be using more than just our body weight to encourage the improvement of core muscle strength, flexibility, balance and bone mineral density. Exercise tubing for added resistance plus exercise balls as a balance challenge are incorporated into our weekly workout.
TriYoga will make you feel your entire body - inside and out - getting stronger, more fluid and flexible, more at peace with the world. Relaxation in action and being with the flow of universal energy are important lessons of kriya (movement between postures) and asana (stillness in the posture). The theme of the class changes seasonally!
