For a lot people (around 38%) urinary incontinence is a nuisance. You’re going about your day and little bit of pee comes out when you laugh at something funny on the radio. Or you pick up your grand kid and there is goes again. Coughing, sneezing can cause it too. Ugh!
The good news it that - there’s a yoga pose for it! Recent research1 has found that group-based yoga programs to be significantly effective for middle-aged women and older dealing with urinary incontinence. YEAH!!!!!! I have been studying with one of the teachers involved in the research and I’m excited to present to you this new class!
The Empowered Aging: Yoga for Pelvic Floor Health is designed to strengthen the muscles specific to holding everything in.
This 90-minute gentle yoga class will instruct students through the eight specific postures used in this study, as well as others, to strengthen the muscles of the legs and pelvic floor region.
Breathing kriyas specific to TriYoga offer micro-movement that will also be an important aspect of this class. While the focus will be yoga to prevent incontinence and support first and second chakra regions, the benefits of the class also include strength, flexibility and balance improvement and reduction in anxiety and stress.
This class will be peaceful, gentle, relaxing, and empowering. See you there!
